Why does anyone need a Wedding Consultation?
Wedding Consults… Who needs them?
Well, you might be surprised to know that we book numerous weddings every year with brides and grooms who don’t book in for their free Wedding Consultation! Why is this? It’s a personal choice really.
So in case you’re not quite sure what the Wedding Consultation is all about with your photographer, here’s a few tips to get you thinking. Make sure you take some notes so that you get all the answers you’re looking for when you meet with your photographer.
Horse and Cart
Transport. Transport is just one of the many aspects that a Bride and Groom need to plan well in advance. What type of cars you’re after will have a big impact on how readily available they are – we don’t know much about which cars are best for which people, but we certainly love taking beautiful photos of beautiful cars (with the gorgeous couple on scene too of course!).
We’ll ask you about your cars (or Horse and Cart as it happened at one of our weddings last weekend!) so that we can suss out what your visions are with the cars. We want to be on par with your visions so that we can provide you a truly unique and personalised experience.
When you spend so much money on these fancy modes of transport – we want to make sure we find the perfect location to capture your day – alongside those cars!
Location, Location
It might seem obvious, or maybe not, by locations are kind of important on a wedding day. During your Wedding Consultation – we’ll ask you about all the different locations that will be involved in the day. From morning preparations, ceremony, family photo locations, photoshoot locations, to the reception and beyond! Yes that’s right – sometimes our couples like to sneak away during the ceremony for some romantic night photos… We can talk about that more during your consult!
So what’s in a location? Are the preparations at a hotel or at a house? If they’re at a house – have you thought about where we might be able to take some really nice photos of you once you’re all dressed and ready to go? Sometimes we’ve had clients change their preparations locations to ensure a nice clean ‘back-drop’ for some pre-wedding photos. I think most people are pretty familiar with talking about photoshoot locations – but have you considered where you might get the family photos done? A lot of families cherish wedding days as a chance to update the family heirloom spot on the wall. Let’s talk about ways to make this spot a good one!
It’s all in the Details
As a photographer – it’s pretty important for us to have a keen eye for detail. To help us along with this – we’ll talk to you at your Wedding Consultation about what sorts of things we will want to take photos of. A lot of brides and grooms are unaware of this before we tell them – and they’re often pretty happy with the end results, so let us talk to you about what you’ve got planned for the day so we can capture it with perfect detail!
What are you Hiding from us?
Now, it’s not that you’ll do it on purpose – we know that – we don’t take it personally…. But in the past, there have been the odd couple who have hidden their little secrets from us. “What sort of secrets?” I hear you ask!
I’m glad you asked because this is SO important. Showing their unique personalities, we often find a bride or groom who have arranged something special – either a special gift or special thing to happen – at some stage during the wedding day. If we don’t know about these little secrets, how can we know to capture them? We might not realise it’s happening until it’s too late and then you won’t be able to look back on the memories of your extra special secret!
