Tips for a great promotional video footage of your event!

It doesn’t have to break the bank to get a high quality promotional video clip of your function or event.
The important thing to know is – what do you want to achieve with your video?
If you want to promote your event for upcoming similar events – or the same event in 12 months time, for example, then you probably want to really capture the atmosphere and vibes of the event.

What is “the right” promotional video footage

Getting the right video footage in the right manner is pretty essential for this. For example if you’re promoting an exciting – highly energised event such as the Danni Minogue one above, then it’s ok if your video footage is a bit choppy, fast-paced and, well, a bit crazy! On the otherhand, if you’re capturing a health & well-being event, you might want the footage to be a bit softer, much more fluent and focused on precise points of importance.
So once you’ve worked out WHAT you need to capture – you need to make sure you’ve got the right equipment for the job.

Bring your footage to life

Putting your footage together doesn’t automatically make it a promotional video. It can. But if you want it to make an impact on its viewers, you need to think about what other elements need to be included. Audio is pretty important in giving emotion to a video clip. The wrong audio can really dampen the experience of the viewers, whereas the right audio can truly enhance its value. Think carefully about the mood and emotion you want to portray – and search search search until you find the right piece of music for your video. Ps – don’t forget about copyright laws – you may need to purchase a license in order to use the music you find.

Does a promotional video need titles?

Yes. And No.
It depends!
In most instances, we say yes. For a variety of reasons. Many viewers take to the net from their phones and smart devices these days. If you’re looking at your newsfeed in Facebook for example, you’re simply scrolling through and up pops a video. Have you noticed that it doesn’t play the audio to the clip until you actually click on the video? So this proves that in many instances, the person watching may not have their sound activated. If they’re simply watching your video – how will they know what it’s about or what emotion to feel? Sometimes titles can be enough to draw them in – get them interested in what they’re watching.
Sometimes titles simply don’t work – or just aren’t needed. It’s important to work out when you should and shouldn’t use them.
